What We Do

From having elders’ stories told, to getting the kids to forget their screens, and all the planting or walking that takes place in between; we have many ways that you can get involved to help accomplish the goal of cultural and environmental survival.

Stories With Elders

Grandma family.jpg

We film elders willing to share their stories connected to Land. Often times, the wisdom on health and culture are right in front of us just awaiting true revival. Recordings taken during conversations with your Elders begins your Voices of the Land eco-cultural documentary and we return the favor each time with a cultural meal whose costs are covered by us. Reach out below to begin sharing Stories!

Culture Walks

We add a generation to your family documentary by filming youth and young adults walking together outdoors while jointly discussing our visions for a culturally healed, environmentally sound world. BIPOC youth and young adults not only deserve safe and equal access to the outdoors, they should also feel an empowered sense of community while there. Water, a light meal, and carpooling opportunities are available so, let’s take a Culture Walk together!

Kids’ Five Senses Trips

The youngest generation is your family’s final addition to your eco-cultural documentary as we take our final clips. We encourage youth to leave technology behind and use all of their senses to connect to the Land. These trips hold Indigenous reconciliation top of mind and allow kids to play freely while also learning about local plant life and ecology. If you are in need of childcare and love our mission of getting youth back outside, send your littles on a Five Senses Trip with us!

Soil Testing & Planting

All of this talking and walking, it makes sense we have to plant too! We have the opportunity to aid families in securing food and medicine sovereignty right in their own back yard. After testing and ensuring your soil’s health we will begin forming your garden plan with you. Voices of the Land specializes in gardens balanced with climate-friendly plants native to Colorado, non-invasive food and medicine plants that resonate best with your family, and seeds of other desired plants for indoor use. Willing families can opt-in to bring food or medicine from their gardens to the Voices of the Land harvest in October. We’re excited to be in (plants and) community with you!
